Escape from a Front Strangle (Two-Handed Choke)

Escape From a Front Strangle
Two-Handed Choke

A direct response to a two-handed throat grab from the front. This technique prioritises airway protection, posture disruption, and fast disengagement.

Key Survival Points

  • Hands come up immediately to protect the airway
  • Chin drops slightly to reduce throat exposure
  • Foot movement breaks balance and grip strength
  • Peel and frame — do not pull straight back
  • Create space and disengage as soon as possible

Common Errors

  • Freezing and holding breath
  • Trying to overpower the choke with arm strength
  • Leaning backwards instead of changing angle
  • Remaining in range after the grip breaks

Legal & Training Note (UK)

Any defensive response must be reasonable and proportionate to the threat as you honestly perceive it. This technique is taught for education and survival awareness. Always train under qualified supervision.
