“Triangle of Survival: How a Simple Leg Lock Can Neutralize an Attacker from the Ground”

Ground Survival & Control

When taken to the ground, your goal is not domination — it is damage limitation, control, and a safe opportunity to escape. This module reinforces real-world priorities shown in the clip.

Flash Cards – Key Ground Survival Principles

Tap each card to reveal the principle and explanation. These reinforce why the technique works, not just how.

Why control before escape?
Control reduces strikes, panic, and chaos. Without control, attempts to stand or disengage usually fail.
Biggest danger on the ground?
Head impact and repeated strikes. Positioning and posture protect the head before anything else.
Why posture matters?
Posture controls balance and power. Breaking the attacker’s posture limits their ability to strike or drive weight.
What is “safe pressure”?
Enough pressure to stabilise and slow the attacker — not so much that you become stuck or exposed.
When are submissions appropriate?
Only when escape is blocked. They are tools to create space and compliance, not to stay engaged.
End goal of ground defence?
Create space, stand up safely, disengage, and remove yourself from the danger area.
